Last Thursday, police in Paraná, Brazil raided buildings in Sao Paulo, Curitiba and other locations within Paraná. The buildings belonged to a single unnamed organization that was believed to be associated with a fraudulent Bitcoin cryptocurrency scheme. The raid required SWAT teams and over 50 police officers. Nine people were arrested and charged by Brazilian police with fraud, money laundering, criminal association and forgery.

The raids were the latest in a nearly half a year investigation into the organization, which promised what is believed to be as many as 5,000 victims, extremely high returns on Bitcoin investment. The victims were targeted through social media.
